ROOM 2022

D-Light Studios is proud to support our dance artists' in residence Flora Fauna Project in collaboration with Dance Ireland, Project Arts Centre and The Arts Council.

Flora Fauna Project is an artist led production house and artistic duo made up by multi-disciplinary artist Stace Gill/The Sei and choreographer/designer Maria Nilsson Waller. Together, the pair devise new and collaborative ways to support dance artists in Ireland and abroad. Through their work they facilitate dialogue and artistic expression around social and environmental issues.

This year ROOM 2022 provides an independent platform that presents dance film and conversations featuring dance artist's stories from Ireland, Sweden, Nigeria and India.

They received approximately 150 applications for ROOM 2022 from all over the world, giving them a glimpse of what dance artists are currently up to and how and where the movements are happening. The projects received were made with a wide range of budgets, from high to home made, and everything in between.

All the artists that caught their attention highlight some important issues we face individually, locally and globally as a species. We were particularly drawn to work that dealt with our relationship with nature, ourselves and each other. In this digital dance platform you will find bodies and voices, highlighting: natural intelligence, democracy, oppression, corruption, city planning, justice, peace, forgiveness, the future, the past, history, identity, community.

ROOM provides a space for contemplation. How can we find connection through dance in times of separation?

ROOM is free and open for a limited time, visit before 27th February 2022.
